The general consensus on the largest you can safely bore the 4.8/5.3 block is to LS1 bore specs (3.90").

Web2002 Trans am WS6 T-top. I did some research on this for my future build up and found that early 6.0L blocks with iron heads 1999 to 2002 half year, is suggested that it be no more than .010. Those early years they need to be sonic checked. The late model can be .030 max bore. Sonic checked just for insurance.
